How can I reset the printer
from the default?
Difficulty with the printer is most likely due to the default properties being set in
the report (.rpt) itself. The report will actually store
printer information that was in the report's printer
settings at creation time.
After opening the report in the Crystal Reports designer
check File > Printer Setup
Is 'No Printer' selected? If it is, deselect this,
then deselect the 'Default Properties' option to
avoid having the report use default properties - in case
the report is not using default settings.
Another thing could be if the report itself was saved with
the Default Properties option checked in the Printer Setup
for the report. The report itself does indeed store the
printer information from the dev machine.
As a final step, it may be necessary to strip the printer
information out of the report. This can be done in Crystal
Reports by going to the Printer Setup;
1. selecting 'No Printer'
2. saving the report
3. closing the report
4. open the report
5. go to Printer Setup
6. deselect No Printer
7. ensure the orientation is set
8. ensure Default properties is not selected
9. Save and exit
